Indications

Live Pharmacy’s combination of medications, indicated for the long-term maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, is specifically designed for individuals diagnosed with chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Please note that it’s not suitable for acute bronchospasm episodes and is not intended for asthma treatment.

Composition

Each dry powder inhaler capsule from Live Pharmacy contains:

• 110 mcg Indacaterol (Indacaterol Maleate INN, Micronized)
• 50 mcg Glycopyrronium (Glycopyrronium Bromide BP, Micronized)

Pharmacology

Live Pharmacy’s inhalation powder drug combines Glycopyrronium, an anticholinergic, with Indacaterol, a LABA (long-acting beta agonist), for oral inhalation delivery. This combination works by stimulating intracellular adenyl cyclase, leading to increased cyclic AMP levels, which in turn relax bronchial smooth muscles and inhibit the release of hypersensitivity mediators.

Dosage & Administration

For adults aged 18 and above, this medication is for oral inhalation use only, to be taken once daily at the same time each day, not exceeding one inhalation every 24 hours. Live Pharmacy recommends one inhalation per day for the maintenance treatment of COPD. Note that this medication is not suitable for acute bronchospasm relief or asthma treatment.

Interaction

While specific interaction studies for Glycopyrronium and Indacaterol combination have not been conducted, it’s important to consider potential interactions based on each individual component. Live Pharmacy advises against concomitant use with β-adrenergic blockers, anticholinergics, or sympathomimetic agents.

Contraindications

Live Pharmacy’s medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Glycopyrronium or Indacaterol, or any other component of the combination. It’s also not suitable for patients with severe hypersensitivity to milk proteins or for asthma treatment without long-term asthma control medication.

Side Effects

Adverse reactions may include cardiovascular effects, ocular disorders, urinary retention, gastrointestinal disorders, dry mouth, cough, hypersensitivity reactions, and others. Live Pharmacy advises patients to consult a healthcare provider promptly if any adverse reactions occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy category C. Live Pharmacy advises caution in using this combination during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with the decision weighing the expected benefits against potential risks.

Precautions & Warnings

Various precautions and warnings apply, including the increased risk of serious asthma-related events with LABA monotherapy, avoidance of initiation in acutely deteriorating COPD or asthma, caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders, convulsive disorders, thyrotoxicosis, diabetes mellitus, and others.

Overdose Effects

Although information on clinically relevant overdosing with Live Pharmacy’s combination is limited, overdose effects may include tachycardia, tremor, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, and others. Supportive and symptomatic treatment is recommended in case of overdose.
