Norvis 50

Indications

Norvis is an antispasmodic medication designed to alleviate muscle spasms in various parts of the body, including the intestines, biliary system, bladder, and uterus. It is prescribed for symptomatic relief of pain associated with functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary system. Norvis is also indicated for treating spasms and pain in urological and gynecological conditions.

Pharmacology

Norvis contains Tiemonium Methylsulphate, which acts as a competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine. It strengthens calcium bonds with membrane phospholipids and proteins, inhibiting intracellular contractile proteins in visceral cells. This mechanism effectively reduces visceral spasm and associated pain.

Dosage & Administration

• Tablet/Syrup:
  • Adult: Typically, 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls of syrup daily in divided doses.
  • Children: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses.
• Injection:
  • 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection administered 3 times daily via slow Intravenous or Intramuscular routes.
• Suppository:
  • 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily via the rectal route.

Contraindications

Norvis should not be used in patients with urethroprostatic disorders at risk of urine retention or those at risk of angle closure glaucoma.

Animal studies on Tiemonium Methylsulphate did not reveal teratogenic effects. While no deformities have been reported with normal use, caution is advised during pregnancy and lactation due to insufficient data.

Precautions & Warnings

Exercise caution when administering Norvis to patients with prostate disorders, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal or hepatic insufficiency. Visual disturbances associated with Norvis may impair activities such as driving or operating machinery.

• Geriatric Use: Norvis maintains efficacy and safety with increasing age.
