Indications
Urilax is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with dysuria, urgency, nocturia, suprapubic pain, urinary frequency, and incontinence. It is effective in conditions such as cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, and urethrocystitis.
- Use only under the guidance of a registered physician.
Description
Urilax is a spasmolytic flavone derivative that relaxes smooth muscle in the urinary tract. As a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist, it is specifically indicated for treating overactive bladder symptoms, including urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and frequent urination. Muscarinic receptors play a crucial role in mediating functions such as bladder contractions and salivary secretion.
Pharmacology
Flavoxate acts as a direct antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in organs that are cholinergically innervated. Its anticholinergic-parasympatholytic properties reduce smooth muscle tone in the bladder, leading to fewer voids, decreased episodes of urge incontinence, and improved urine retention, facilitating a higher volume per void.
