Ticamet 250 Cozycap

Indications:

Ticamet Inhaler is prescribed for the regular management of asthma when a combination product (long-acting β2-agonist and inhaled corticosteroid) is deemed suitable. It is recommended for patients who are not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids alone or those requiring both inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting β2-agonist for effective asthma control.

Pharmacology:

Ticamet combines Salmeterol Xinafoate, a selective long-acting beta-2 agonist, and Fluticasone Propionate, a corticosteroid primarily active in the lungs. While Salmeterol protects against symptoms, Fluticasone improves lung function and prevents asthma exacerbations. This formulation offers convenience to patients on combined therapy.

Dosage:

Inhaler:

• Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: Take 2 puffs of 25 µg Salmeterol and 50 µg Fluticasone Propionate twice daily, or 2 puffs of 25 µg Salmeterol and 125 µg Fluticasone Propionate twice daily, or 2 puffs of 25 µg Salmeterol and 250 µg Fluticasone Propionate twice daily.
• Children (4-12 years): Administer 2 puffs of 25 µg Salmeterol and 50 µg Fluticasone Propionate twice daily.

Inhalation Capsule (for asthma):

• Adult and Adolescent (12 Years and Older): Use Salmeterol 50 µg & Fluticasone 100 µg or Salmeterol 50 µg & Fluticasone 250 µg twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. Dosage may vary based on asthma severity.
• Pediatric Patients (4 to 11 Years): For uncontrolled asthma on an inhaled corticosteroid, administer Salmeterol 50 µg & Fluticasone 100 µg twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart.

Inhalation Capsule (For COPD):

• Take Salmeterol 50 µg & Fluticasone 250 µg twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. Rinse the mouth after each inhalation.

Maxhaler (For Asthma):

• Adults and Adolescents (12 years and older): Use one inhalation twice daily with varying strengths depending on the severity.
• Children (4 years and older): Administer one inhalation twice daily. The maximum licensed dose of fluticasone propionate delivered by this inhaler in children is 100 mcg twice daily.

Maxhaler (For COPD):

• Use one inhalation twice daily. No adjustment needed for special patient groups, including elderly patients or those with renal impairment.
