Description

Indications

Tetrasol Solution is a potent parasiticide specifically designed to target the burrowing mite Sarcoptes scabiei, which causes scabies. It is indicated for both the treatment and prevention of scabies infestations.

Use as directed by a registered healthcare professional.

Pharmacology

Monosulfiram, the active ingredient in Tetrasol Solution, is an effective ectoparasiticide used to treat and prevent scabies by eliminating the parasite responsible for the condition.

Dosage & Administration

Before applying, dilute Tetrasol Solution with 2-3 parts water. Clean the body thoroughly with soap and water, ensuring it’s completely dry. Apply the diluted solution generously to the entire body, excluding the face and scalp. Rub it in well and let the skin air dry for approximately 10 minutes before dressing. For stubborn cases, this process may be repeated for 2-3 consecutive days. These instructions apply to both adults and children.

Follow the advice of a healthcare professional when using this medication.

Interactions

There are no known significant drug interactions with Tetrasol Solution.

Contraindications

Tetrasol Solution should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to the solution. It should not be applied near open flames. Due to its chemical similarity to disulfiram, alcohol should be avoided before and at least 48 hours after application.

Side Effects

Tetrasol Solution is generally well-tolerated, even when applied undiluted. Rarely, an erythematous rash may occur as an idiosyncratic reaction.

Pregnancy & Lactation

The FDA has not classified Tetrasol Solution under a specific pregnancy category. Consult a healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or lactation.

Overdose Effects

Ingestion of Tetrasol Solution may cause severe reactions due to the presence of alcohol and Tetrasol. Symptoms may include flushing, difficulty breathing, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness. In severe cases, tachycardia, hypotension, and myocardial ischemia may occur. Immediate medical attention is required, including oxygen supply, blood pressure control, and the use of cardiac stimulants if necessary.

Therapeutic Class

Parasiticidal preparations.

Storage Conditions

Store Tetrasol Solution at room temperature (below 35°C). Avoid storing in a cold environment, as this may cause the formation of crystals, which can be dissolved by warming the bottle in water. The solution is flammable, so it should be kept away from open flames. Dilute the solution with water as needed.
