Indications
Rynex is prescribed for relief from nasal congestion associated with conditions such as acute or chronic rhinitis, the common cold, sinusitis, upper respiratory allergies, nosebleeds, and hay fever. Additionally, it serves as a nasal decongestant in cases of otitis media.

Pharmacology
Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride, a sympathomimetic amine derivative, acts as an imidazoline with direct agonist activity on α-adrenoceptors, though it doesn’t interact with β-adrenoceptors. When applied topically to the nasal mucosa, it induces rapid and prolonged vasoconstriction in arterioles, decreasing blood flow and reducing mucosal swelling. This action improves airway patency and enhances nasal sinus drainage.
