Indications
Rosen Gold is primarily indicated for:
- Oral contraception to prevent pregnancy.
- Managing moderate acne vulgaris.
- Treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
Note: Use under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional.
Description
Rosen Gold is an oral contraceptive containing a combination of Ethinylestradiol and Drospirenone. Ethinylestradiol, a synthetic estrogen, and Drospirenone, a synthetic progesterone, work together to prevent ovulation by inhibiting gonadotropin release. Secondary actions include thickening cervical mucus to impede sperm penetration and altering the endometrial lining to prevent implantation. Additionally, Drospirenone has an anti-mineralocorticoid effect, reducing estrogen-related water retention, and improving lipid profiles by increasing HDL levels. It also exerts anti-androgenic effects, reducing the impact of excess androgens.
Dosage & Administration
- Contraceptive Use: Take one tablet daily in the prescribed order at the same time each day. Start with the first pink tablet and continue for 24 consecutive days. After finishing the pink tablets, switch to the white placebo tablets from day 25 to 28. Withdrawal bleeding typically starts 2-3 days after beginning the white tablets.
- Switching from Other Contraceptives: If changing from a combined oral contraceptive (COC), start Rosen Gold the day after finishing the last active tablet. If switching from a progestogen-only method (minipill or injection), use a backup method for the first 7 days.
- Post-Abortion or Postpartum Use: Start immediately after a first-trimester abortion or 21–28 days after childbirth or second-trimester abortion.
Missed Tablets: If a pink tablet is missed, take it as soon as remembered. If two consecutive tablets are missed, take them together the next day and use backup contraception for the next 7 days.
Interactions
Rosen Gold may interact with certain medications, potentially altering the effectiveness of the oral contraceptive. Medications that can reduce the efficacy of Rosen Gold include rifampicin, phenytoin, and antibiotics like ampicillin and tetracyclines. If using any of these, consider using an additional non-hormonal contraceptive method.
