Pharmacology
This preparation is a mixture of antitussive, decongestant, and antihistamine agents. Dextromethorphan is a safe, effective, non-narcotic antitussive agent that acts centrally on the cough center in the medulla. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passage, alleviating nasal and sinus congestion. Triprolidine provides symptomatic relief by blocking histamine H1 receptors, with mild sedative properties.
