Mucolyt is designed to alleviate respiratory tract disorders characterized by a productive cough. It is effective in treating conditions such as:
- Tracheobronchitis
- Bronchitis associated with emphysema

- Bronchitis accompanied by bronchospasm
- Chronic inflammatory pulmonary diseases
- Pneumoconiosis

Pharmacology
Bromhexine Hydrochloride serves as a powerful oral mucolytic agent. It effectively alters the structure of acid mucopolysaccharide fibers found in mucoid sputum, resulting in thinner mucus that is easier to expel. Bromhexine is quickly and thoroughly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is widely distributed throughout body tissues.
Dosage & Administration
The recommended dosages for Mucolyt are as follows:
- Adults & Children over 12 years: 10 ml (2 teaspoons) three times daily
- Children aged 6-12 years: 5 ml (1 teaspoon) three times daily
- Children aged 2-6 years: 2.5 ml (½ teaspoon) three times daily
- Note: Bromhexine Hydrochloride is not recommended for children under 2 years of age without medical advice.

Interaction
No significant drug interactions have been identified with Mucolyt.
Contraindications
Mucolyt is contraindicated for individuals with known hypersensitivity to Bromhexine Hydrochloride or any other component of this formulation.

Additionally, the clearance of Bromhexine and its metabolites may be diminished in those with severe hepatic or renal impairment.
