Mooverix Cream

Indications

Cream: This powerful combination cream offers temporary relief from minor aches and pains in muscles and joints, specifically targeting conditions like backache, lumbago, strains, bruises, sprains, and arthritis or rheumatic pain, including discomfort in tendons and ligaments. Clinical trials have demonstrated that Mooverix, which contains Methyl Salicylate and Menthol, effectively alleviates minor pain caused by skeletal muscle stress and arthritis.

Nasal Inhaler Stick: This inhaler is designed to relieve nasal congestion and unblock a stuffy nose.

Use this medication only under the guidance of a registered physician.

Composition

Each gram of cream contains:

• Methyl Salicylate BP 300 mg
• Menthol BP 100 mg
• Camphor BP 40 mg

Each gram of Nasal Inhaler Stick contains:

• Extract of Wintergreen oil (as Methyl Salicylate) 122.70 mg
• Mentha Piperita (as Menthol) 415.40 mg
• Cinnamomum Camphora (as Camphor) 415.40 mg

Pharmacology

Cream: Each ingredient in this formulation plays a unique role in pain relief. Camphor provides spasmolytic effects on smooth muscles, reducing calcium influx and thus minimizing muscle contractions and spasms. It also raises the pain threshold, making it harder for pain signals to reach the brain. Menthol delivers a cooling sensation by stimulating cold receptors, further diminishing pain. Methyl Salicylate converts to salicylic acid, inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzyme, which reduces prostaglandin synthesis and ultimately alleviates pain.

Nasal Inhaler Stick: Menthol acts as a decongestant, helping clear nasal congestion and soothing irritation in the throat and mouth. Camphor also serves as a decongestant and cough suppressant. Additionally, Wintergreen Oil assists in eliminating germs from infected areas, providing relief from illness.

Dosage & Administration

Cream:

• Adults and Children (2 years and older): Apply generously to the affected area and gently massage until fully absorbed. Do not apply more than 3 to 4 times daily. If symptoms worsen or persist for more than 7 days, or if they clear and return within a few days, discontinue use and consult a physician.
• Children under 2 years: Safety data is insufficient for use in this age group.

Nasal Inhaler Stick:

• Adults and Children (12 years and older): Insert the inhaler into one nostril while closing the other nostril and inhale deeply. Use as frequently as needed.

Interactions

Methyl Salicylate may be absorbed through the skin and can enhance the effects of Warfarin by interfering with vitamin K metabolism or displacing Warfarin from protein-binding sites.

Contraindications

Cream: Not suitable for individuals with bleeding disorders, allergies to salicylates, or sensitivity to any component. Avoid application to broken skin or raw surfaces.

Nasal Inhaler Stick: Not recommended for those with hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or any excipients. Avoid use in children under 12 years.

Side Effects

Cream: Contraindicated in patients with bleeding disorders, salicylate allergies, or sensitivity to any component. Application to broken skin or raw surfaces is not advisable.

Nasal Inhaler Stick: Possible side effects include temporary burning, stinging, dryness in the nose, or sneezing.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding only when clearly necessary.

Precautions & Warnings

For external use only. Use strictly as directed. Do not apply heat (e.g., heating pad) to treated areas. Keep out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion. Avoid tight bandages and swallowing. In case of accidental ingestion, induce vomiting and seek medical attention. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, or broken skin. If redness or irritation develops, or if pain persists for more than 10 days, or if arthritis-like symptoms occur in children under 12, discontinue use and consult a physician. Prolonged or excessive use may lead to skin irritation and redness; therefore, follow the recommended dosage. This medication may pose risks for individuals with compromised kidney or liver function, as well as younger children.
