Indications:
Marlox is used to relieve common digestive issues such as dyspepsia, heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), hiatal hernia, and flatulence. It is also effective for treating hyperacidity linked to peptic ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis. In some cases, Marlox can be prescribed for children under medical supervision if necessary.
Always use as directed by a registered healthcare professional.
Pharmacology:
Magaldrate, the active ingredient in Marlox, is a hydroxymagnesium aluminate complex that reacts with gastric acid to form magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)₂) and aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)₃). These compounds are poorly absorbed by the body, providing long-lasting antacid effects that help neutralize stomach acid.
