Indications
Lutisone is recommended for:
- Preventing and treating seasonal allergic rhinitis, including hay fever, as well as perennial rhinitis.
- It exhibits strong anti-inflammatory effects on the nasal mucosa with minimal systemic activity.
Use as directed by a registered physician.
Description
Lutisone is a synthetic corticosteroid with trifluorinated properties, offering significant anti-inflammatory benefits. It is available as an aqueous suspension of microfine Lutisone, specifically designed for topical nasal application using a metered, atomizing spray pump. Each bottle delivers 120 precise sprays.
Pharmacology
When applied topically to the nasal mucosa, Fluticasone Propionate triggers both anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictor effects. The exact mechanism is not fully understood but may involve reducing the number of mediator cells (basophils, leukocytes, and mast cells) at the epithelial level, decreasing eosinophil counts, desensitizing sensory nerves to stimuli, controlling secretory responses to cholinergic stimulation, and minimizing fibroblast activity. Other possible mechanisms include inhibiting capillary dilation and permeability, stabilizing lysosomal membranes, and preventing the release of proteolytic enzymes.
Dosage
- Adults and children over 12 years: Administer 2 sprays in each nostril once daily, preferably in the morning. In some cases, 2 sprays twice daily may be needed, not exceeding a total of 4 sprays.
- Children aged 4-11 years: Administer 1 spray in each nostril once daily, with a maximum of 4 sprays per day. For perennial rhinitis in this age group, clinical data is insufficient for a formal recommendation.
- Children under 4 years: The safety and efficacy of Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray in children under 4 years have not been established.
For optimal results, use Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray at regular intervals as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Use as directed by a registered physician.

Side Effects
Due to minimal absorption into the body, side effects are rare. However, potential effects include nasal or throat dryness, an unpleasant taste or smell, and an increased likelihood of nosebleeds.
Pregnancy and Lactation
There are no adequate, controlled studies on the use of Fluticasone Propionate in pregnant women. It should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks.
