Indications

Lubgel is utilized as a lubricant to alleviate irritation and discomfort caused by dryness of the eye or exposure to wind or sun.

Composition

Each milliliter of Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium sterile eye gel drops contains:

• Active Substance: Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium USP 10 mg.
• Preservative: Purite 0.0075%

Pharmacology

Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium acts as an ocular lubricant, providing relief from symptoms associated with moderate to severe dry eye syndromes (DES) and offering prolonged protection against eye dryness and irritation. This lubricating formulation mimics natural tears and utilizes a mild, non-sensitizing preservative that eventually converts into components found in natural tears. The pharmacological effect of Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium is not receptor-mediated but rather results from its viscosity-enhancing properties, which increase the retention time of the eye drop.

Dosage & Administration

Apply 1 drop in the affected eye(s) four times a day or as necessary.

Interaction

If multiple medications are to be administered to the eye, there should be a minimum interval of 5 minutes between each application.

Contraindications

This eye drop is not suitable for patients with a known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the product.

Side Effects

Reported side effects of this eye drop include burning, eye irritation or pruritus, visual disturbances, and ocular discharge.

Pregnancy & Lactation

The safety of Lubgel during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult their doctor before use.

Precautions & Warnings

Administer concomitant ocular medication 15 minutes prior to instilling Lubgel. Remove contact lenses before using Lubgel and refrain from using it if the solution changes color or becomes cloudy. Avoid touching the tip of the container to any surface to prevent contamination, and replace the cap after each use.

Use in Special Populations

Pediatric Use: Lubgel should not be used in infants and small children under 3 years of age. Geriatric Use: No significant differences in safety or effectiveness have been observed between elderly and other adult patients.

Storage Conditions

Use the drug within 30 days after opening for the first time. Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C and protect from light. Ensure the bottle is securely closed immediately after use and keep it out of reach of children.
