Description

Indications

Hyprosol is used to address tear deficiency resulting from:

  • Reduced lacrimal secretion
  • Functional disorders due to topical or systemic conditions
  • Incomplete or deficient eyelid closure

Ophthalmic Gel: Hyprosol gel, enhanced with Carbomer 980, provides long-lasting lubrication for ocular discomfort. Its slight hypotonicity is quickly balanced by the slightly hypertonic nature of dry eye tear fluid.

Pharmacology

Hypromellose is a semi-synthetic, inert, and viscoelastic polymer used as an ophthalmic lubricant. It acts as an artificial tear to alleviate dryness and discomfort of the cornea and conjunctiva caused by impaired lacrimal secretion or functional disorders.

Dosage & Administration

  • Ophthalmic Solution:
    • 0.3% Hypromellose: Typically, 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times a day, or as directed by your physician.
    • 0.5% Hypromellose: Dosage varies per patient. Follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
  • Ophthalmic Gel:
    • Instill 1 or 2 drops into the conjunctival sac as needed. Frequency depends on the severity of your condition, generally 1-3 times daily. Additional applications may be necessary for more severe cases.

Interaction

Hyprosol can be used with contact lenses; however, compatibility with specific lens materials has not been studied.

Contraindications
