Indications
This supplement is recommended for preventing iron deficiency, particularly when dietary intake is insufficient. It is especially useful during pregnancy and for managing anemia.
Description
Our supplement combines iron, folic acid, and zinc in an oral formulation, designed to address deficiencies in these essential nutrients.
Pharmacology
Our formula includes Ferrous Ascorbate, Folic Acid, and Zinc—three vital nutritional elements. Ferrous Ascorbate, a blend of iron and vitamin C, replenishes iron stores and corrects iron deficiency anemia. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption. Folic Acid, a B vitamin, is crucial for red blood cell formation and supports fetal development during pregnancy. Zinc, an essential micromineral, contributes to overall nutritional balance.
Dosage & Administration
- Adults & Elderly: Take one tablet daily, with or without food, or as directed by your healthcare provider. In severe cases, your physician may prescribe two tablets daily.
- Pediatric Patients: Safety and efficacy in children have not been established.
Note: Follow your doctor’s advice for medication use.
Interactions
Avoid taking this supplement with tetracycline antibiotics, as they can interfere with iron absorption. For optimal results, maintain a two-hour gap between taking Hemofix FZ and tetracycline. Iron absorption may also be reduced by penicillamine and antacids. Monitor zinc levels in patients with renal impairment to prevent accumulation.
Contraindications
Do not use if you have haemolytic anemia, are hypersensitive to any component, or have excessive body iron levels.
Side Effects
Common side effects are mild and temporary, including stomach pain, nausea, constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, and heartburn. Allergic reactions may occur with folic acid use.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Consult your physician before use if pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Avoid use during the first trimester unless iron deficiency is confirmed. Iron supplementation is recommended for the rest of the pregnancy, especially if zinc is also needed.
Precautions & Warnings
Use with caution in individuals at risk for iron overload, such as those with haemochromatosis or haemolytic anemia. Lack of response to treatment may indicate other causes of anemia, requiring further evaluation.
Overdose Effects
Acute iron overdose symptoms can vary and may include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dark stools, and more severe effects like hypotension, rapid heartbeat, and seizures.
Therapeutic Class
Combined Iron, Vitamin, and Mineral Supplement
