Gentosep Cream

Indications

• Effective for treating burns, eczema, and seborrheic dermatitis.
• Treats ecthyma, excoriations, folliculitis, and furunculosis.
• Addresses insect bites, stings, lacerations, abrasions, and paronychia.
• Useful for pyoderma gangrenosum, skin cysts, abscesses, and stasis ulcers.
• Manages bacterial, fungal, or viral superinfections, including sycosis barbae and infected contact dermatitis.

Pharmacology

Gentamicin Sulphate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic known for its potent bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Effective against E. coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and penicillin-resistant Staph. aureus. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, disrupting the growth of harmful pathogens.

Dosage & Administration

Apply Gentamicin Ointment 3 times daily. Ensure the affected area is cleaned with soap and water, then dried thoroughly before application. Remove any crusts to enhance the ointment’s efficacy.

Contraindications

Not suitable for individuals allergic to Gentamicin. Avoid use during pregnancy and in patients with myasthenia gravis.

Side Effects

Potential side effects include itching, redness, swelling, or irritation at the application site.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Classified as Pregnancy Category D. Minimal amounts may pass into breast milk; breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment.

Do not use if hypersensitive to Gentamicin.
