Indications

This cream is indicated for the topical treatment of inflamed dermatoses where infection by susceptible organisms and inflammation coexist, such as intertrigo and infected eczema. It effectively targets conditions like moist or dry eczema, including atopic eczema, primary irritant or contact allergic eczema, and seborrheic eczema, including that associated with acne. It’s also beneficial for interiginous eczema, including inflammatory interigo, perianal, and genital dermatitis.

Pharmacology

Miconazole, a substituted imidazole, is part of the azoles family, known for treating superficial candidiasis and skin infections like dermatophytosis and pityriasis versicolor. It’s active against various pathogens, including certain gram-positive bacteria. Hydrocortisone, a synthetic glucocorticoid, serves as an anti-inflammatory agent, providing relief from inflammation, itching, and certain skin conditions.

Dosage & Administration

Apply a thin film to the affected area two or four times daily for 1 to 2 weeks. Rub it well until fully absorbed. Treatment should continue for at least one week after all signs and symptoms disappear. This dosage applies to both adults and children.

Interaction

Amphotericin may antagonize the activity of Miconazole.

Contraindications

Avoid use in individuals hypersensitive to any components. Consult a physician before use during pregnancy or lactation.

Side Effects

Rare instances of local sensitivity may occur. Prolonged use may reduce the production of natural hormones by the adrenal gland.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Exercise caution during pregnancy, as high doses of corticosteroids can cause fetal abnormalities. Topical steroids should be used sparingly during pregnancy.

Dispense only with a prescription from a registered physician. Keep out of reach of children. Consult a physician for long-term use in children and elderly individuals.
