Indications
Feelnor MR is prescribed for the management of stable angina pectoris in adults who have not achieved sufficient control with first-line anti-anginal treatments or who cannot tolerate them. It is used as an adjunctive therapy to improve symptoms and enhance quality of life.
Always follow the advice of a registered healthcare professional.
Pharmacology
Trimetazidine Dihydrochloride is a metabolic anti-ischemic agent and the first 3-keto acyl CoA thiolase (KAT) inhibitor. By inhibiting the fatty acid oxidation pathway, it shifts metabolism toward glucose, a more efficient energy source for the heart. This mechanism increases the energy produced per unit of oxygen, improving heart function and preventing lactic acid buildup, which helps to prevent angina attacks.
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 35 mg twice daily or 20 mg three times daily with meals.
- Treatment effectiveness should be evaluated after 3 months. If no significant response is observed, consider discontinuing the medication.
Always follow the prescribing instructions of a registered doctor.
Interaction
No known drug interactions have been reported with Feelnor MR. It is compatible with common anti-anginal medications such as beta-blockers, calcium antagonists, nitrates, heparin, hypolipidemic agents, and digitalis preparations.
