- Psoriasis
- Tinea Pedis (Athlete’s Foot)
- Tinea Corporis (Ringworm)

Description
This broad-spectrum antifungal cream offers anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic, and anti-allergic benefits. It combines Econazole Nitrate, a powerful antifungal agent, with Triamcinolone Acetonide, a synthetic steroid, to enhance antimicrobial effects and reduce inflammation. Econazole targets various fungi, including dermatophytes (Trichophyton, Epidermophyton), yeasts (Candida, Cryptococcus), moulds, and specific bacteria like Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus. Triamcinolone Acetonide reduces both early and late inflammatory responses.
Pharmacological Properties
Econazole Nitrate is minimally absorbed through the skin (<0.1%), while Triamcinolone Acetonide is well absorbed at application sites.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: Apply sparingly to affected areas twice daily, ideally once in the morning and once in the evening. Avoid occlusive dressings and large body areas. Continue treatment until symptoms improve, but no longer than 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, switch to a preparation with only econazole or econazole nitrate as needed.
Pediatric Use: Exercise caution, as children may be more susceptible to side effects. Use for less than 2 weeks and on small areas.
Note: Follow your doctor’s advice for proper medication use.
Interaction
- Econazole: May interact with CYP3A4/2C9 drugs, including oral anticoagulants.
- Triamcinolone: Can lower plasma salicylate levels, increase bleeding risk with NSAIDs, and affect blood glucose levels.
Contraindications
Avoid use in individuals with hypersensitivity to any component. Not suitable for viral infections, fresh vaccination sites, or certain skin conditions like rosacea.
Side Effects
Potential side effects include transient local irritation, itching, and redness. Long-term use may lead to adrenal suppression, particularly in children.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: Triamcinolone Acetonide can cross the placenta and may affect fetal development. Use only if benefits outweigh risks. Lactation: Minimal amounts of Econazole and Triamcinolone may be excreted in breast milk. Use with caution or avoid during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only; avoid eyes, ingestion, or oral use.
- Discontinue use if hypersensitivity or irritation occurs.
- Prolonged use may cause systemic effects, including adrenal suppression.
- Use cautiously in children due to higher skin absorption rates.
Overdose Effects: In case of accidental ingestion or eye contact, wash thoroughly with water and seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
