Indications
Ebaril is prescribed for the relief of symptoms associated with:

Pharmacology
Ebastine functions as a long-acting and selective H1-histamine receptor antagonist. With repeated use, the inhibition of peripheral receptors remains consistent. It is rapidly absorbed and experiences significant first-pass metabolism after oral intake. Almost entirely, ebastine is transformed into its active acid metabolite, carebastine.
Dosage & Administration
Tablet Form:
- Adults (over 12 years): Take 10 mg (one tablet) once daily.
- Children (6-12 years): Take 5 mg (half a tablet) once daily.
Syrup Form:
- Children (2-5 years): Administer 2.5 ml once daily (up to 5 ml for severe cases like Perennial Allergic Rhinitis).
- Children (6-12 years): Administer 5 ml once daily (up to 10 ml for severe cases like Perennial Allergic Rhinitis).
Ebastine can be taken with or without food.

Interactions
When used alongside ketoconazole or erythromycin, Ebaril may increase plasma levels and prolong the QTc interval. There are no significant interactions with theophylline, warfarin, cimetidine, diazepam, or alcohol; however, the sedative effects of alcohol and diazepam may be intensified.
Contraindications
Ebaril is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ebastine or any of its components.
Side Effects
Common side effects include headache, dry mouth, and drowsiness. Less frequently reported effects may consist of abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and insomnia.
Overdose Effects
No significant adverse effects were observed with doses up to 100 mg taken once daily. There is no specific antidote for Ebaril. In case of accidental overdose, perform gastric lavage, monitor vital signs including ECG, and provide symptomatic treatment.
