Dyvon Ointment

Indications:

Dyvon cream and ointment are intended for the topical treatment of chronic stable plaque-type psoriasis vulgaris in adult patients.

Pharmacology:

Derived from vitamin D, Calcipotriol serves as a non-steroidal antipsoriatic agent, demonstrating a vitamin D-like effect by competing for the 1,25(OH)2D3 receptor. It induces differentiation and suppresses proliferation of keratinocytes, thus normalizing epidermal growth in psoriasis.

Dosage & Administration:

Apply Calcipotriol cream and ointment topically to the affected area twice daily, with possible reduction in frequency after initial treatment. Discontinue upon satisfactory improvement, resuming if recurrence occurs. Caution is advised for prolonged use exceeding one year.

Contraindications:

Avoid use in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any component of the preparations or known calcium metabolism disorders.

Side Effects:

Potential side effects may include photosensitivity reactions, skin discoloration, bullous eruption, skin exfoliation, contact dermatitis, and allergic reactions.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Calcipotriol usage during pregnancy should be carefully considered, weighing benefits against risks. Use during lactation is cautioned due to potential excretion in breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings:

Not recommended for generalized pustular psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, erythrodermic exfoliative psoriasis, or for facial application. Avoid use in children due to limited experience.
