Indications
Cosmotrin Cream is formulated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris, targeting comedones, papules, and pustules.
Pharmacology
Cosmotrin contains Tretinoin, a retinoid that works by reducing the cohesion of follicular epithelial cells and promoting cell turnover. This helps in the expulsion of comedones, papules, and pustules, thus improving acne symptoms.
Dosage & Administration
Apply a thin layer of Cosmotrin Cream to the affected areas once or twice daily. Ensure the skin is clean and dry before application. It may take 6 to 8 weeks to see noticeable results. Avoid simultaneous use of moisturizers or astringent products.
Interaction
Use with caution alongside other topical acne treatments, especially those containing peeling agents like benzoyl peroxide. Alternate applications (e.g., Cosmotrin in the morning and benzoyl peroxide in the evening) are recommended.
Contraindications
Avoid Cosmotrin if you are sensitive to its ingredients or have a history of cutaneous epithelioma (skin cancer).
Side Effects
Initial use may cause mild burning, irritation, redness, or peeling. Discontinue use and consult a physician if severe irritation occurs.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Tretinoin should not be used during pregnancy or lactation due to potential risks of teratogenicity and inadequate safety data.
Precautions & Warnings
Avoid application to sensitive areas such as lips, eyes, and mucous membranes. Do not use on broken, eczematous, or sunburned skin.
