Indications

Cavic-C Plus is designed for:

• Supporting specific osteoporosis treatments.
• Addressing increased calcium, Vitamin C, and Vitamin D needs during pregnancy, lactation, rapid growth phases (childhood and adolescence), and old age.
• Managing osteomalacia.
• Preventing and treating calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, particularly in housebound or hospitalized elderly individuals.
• Serving as an adjuvant in cold and flu management.
• Alleviating postmenopausal symptoms and premenstrual discomfort.
• Assisting during elevated body temperatures.
• Functioning as an alkalizing agent in systemic acidosis conditions.

Composition

Each effervescent tablet contains:

• Calcium Lactate Gluconate: 1000 mg
• Calcium Carbonate (from coral): 327 mg
• Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): 500 mg
• Vitamin D3 (Colecalciferol): 400 IU

Pharmacology

Calcium Gluconate supports normal nerve, muscle, and cardiac functions, while coral-sourced Calcium Carbonate promotes better absorption, closely resembling human bone structure. Vitamin C acts as a powerful antioxidant, bolstering the body’s defense against stress and infections.

Dosage & Administration

• Adults and Adolescents: 1 effervescent tablet daily.
• Children: ½ effervescent tablet daily.
• Infants: As prescribed by a physician.

Dissolve one tablet in a glass of water.

Interactions

Patients on thiazide diuretics should be cautious of hypercalcemia, as these can reduce urinary calcium excretion. Certain foods may hinder calcium absorption, and interactions with medications like phenytoin or barbiturates may affect Vitamin D efficacy. To prevent absorption issues, allow at least 4 hours between calcium intake and other medications.

Contraindications

Cavic-C Plus is contraindicated in patients with:

• Hypercalcemia due to conditions like myeloma or bone metastases.
• Severe renal failure.
• Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as constipation, flatulence, and nausea. Occasional skin rashes have been noted with Vitamin D supplementation. Long-term high doses may result in hypercalciuria or hypercalcemia.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use during pregnancy and lactation should be guided by a physician, as requirements for calcium and Vitamin D increase. Overdoses of Vitamin D can have teratogenic effects.

Precautions & Warnings

Careful supervision is essential for patients with renal issues or hypercalciuria. Regular monitoring of calcium levels and kidney function is advised, especially during long-term use.

Overdose Effects

Overdose can lead to hypercalcemia from Vitamin D toxicity, presenting symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and polyuria. Treatment involves ceasing calcium and Vitamin D intake and ensuring proper hydration.
