Pharmacology
Calcium is primarily used pharmaceutically to address deficiencies, given its critical role in numerous bodily functions. Vitamin C, being essential and not synthesized by the human body, acts as a potent reducing agent and supports the body’s response to stress and immune defense.
Dosage & Administration
For children aged 3 to 7 years: Half an effervescent tablet daily. For adults and children above 7 years: One effervescent tablet daily. Dissolve one tablet in a glass of water before consumption. Please follow healthcare professional’s advice before taking medication.
Interactions
Potentially hazardous interactions may occur with medications like Digoxin, Tetracycline, and others, while potentially useful interactions include those with Vitamin D and certain hormones.
Contraindications
Avoid in cases of Hypercalcemia, severe hypercalciuria, severe renal failure, and specific medical conditions as mentioned. Larger doses may lead to gastrointestinal disturbances.
Side Effects
Mild gastrointestinal disturbances like bloating and diarrhea are rare. Prolonged high doses may increase the risk of urinary tract calculi formation in predisposed individuals.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Studies suggest no teratogenic risks with oral calcium during pregnancy. Vitamin C supplementation is generally safe during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions & Warnings
Monitoring of calcium excretion is advised for patients with specific medical conditions. Avoid high doses of vitamin D during Calbo-C therapy unless recommended. Caution is advised in patients with impaired renal function and diabetes due to potential interactions.
Overdose Effects
Acute overdosage is uncommon and would likely result in gastrointestinal disturbances rather than hypercalcemia, except in cases of extremely high vitamin D dosage.
Therapeutic Class
This product belongs to the category of specific mineral and vitamin combined preparations.
