Indications

This Eye Drops is prescribed for adult patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who don’t respond adequately to mono-therapy, aiming to reduce intraocular pressure.

Pharmacology

Bimatoprost is thought to decrease intraocular pressure by enhancing the outflow of aqueous humor through the trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral routes. It mimics the action of prostaglandins, facilitating drainage of aqueous humor from the eyeball. Timolol, similar to propranolol and nadolol, is a beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist. When topically applied, it reduces intraocular pressure, a key risk factor in glaucomatous visual field loss.

Dosage & Administration

The recommended dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily.

Interaction

Concomitant use with certain medications may lead to bradycardia. Administer other ocular medications at least 5 minutes apart from this Eye Drops.

Contraindications

Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient of this formulation.

Side Effects

Clinical trials have reported ocular hyperemia in around 26% of patients. Other reported side effects include decreased visual acuity, eye discomfort, foreign body sensation, pain, and pruritus.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Limited data are available on the use of Bimatoprost / Timolol during pregnancy and lactation. Caution is advised, and it should only be used if clearly necessary.

Precautions & Warnings

Exercise caution in patients with severe or unstable cardiovascular disease. Topical application may result in systemic absorption of active substances.

Use in Special Populations

Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established. No significant differences in safety or effectiveness have been observed between elderly and other adult patients.

Storage Conditions

Store below 25°C in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. The solution can be used up to 28 days after first opening.
