Bicozin-I

Indications:

This syrup is formulated for the treatment and prevention of Iron, Vitamin B complex, and Zinc deficiencies, particularly recommended during pregnancy and lactation.

Composition:

Each 5 ml of syrup contains:

• Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex equivalent to elemental Iron 50 mg
• Thiamine Hydrochloride 5 mg
• Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium equivalent to Riboflavin 2 mg
• Pyridoxine Hydrochloride 2 mg
• Nicotinamide 20 mg
• Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg

Pharmacology:

This syrup combines Iron, Vitamin B complex, and Zinc. The Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex ensures controlled absorption upon contact with mucosal cells, offering greater stability compared to conventional iron forms.

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: 5 ml-10 ml (1-2 teaspoonfuls) three times daily or as directed by a physician.
• Children: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) three times daily or as directed by a physician.
• Infants: 0.33 ml/kg body weight daily or as directed by a physician.

Interaction:

Due to its complex-bound nature, interactions with food components (phytates, oxalates, tannins) and concomitant medications (tetracyclines, antacids) are unlikely.

Contraindications:

Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredients.

Side Effects:

Generally well-tolerated; possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea, typical of oral iron preparations.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation.

Precautions & Warnings:

Use with caution in conditions prone to iron overload (e.g., hemochromatosis, thalassemia, hemosiderosis, or hemolytic anemia).

Use in Special Populations:

Recommended for use in children.

Overdose Effects:

In case of overdose, symptoms may include epigastric pain, diarrhea, vomiting, metabolic acidosis, and convulsions. Seek immediate medical attention; initial treatment may involve emesis and gastric lavage.
