Indications
B-50 Forte-B complex is recommended for both prophylactic and therapeutic nutritional supplementation, particularly during physiologically stressful conditions. It’s beneficial for conditions leading to depletion, reduced absorption, or decreased bioavailability of essential B-vitamins, often characterized by symptoms like glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, and beriberi.
Composition
Each Tablet/Capsule/Syrup contains:
- Thiamine Hydrochloride: 5 mg
- Riboflavin: 2 mg
- Pyridoxine hydrochloride: 2 mg
- Nicotinamide: 20 mg
Each Injection contains:
- Thiamine Hydrochloride: 50 mg
- Riboflavin: 4 mg
- Pyridoxine hydrochloride: 10 mg
- Nicotinamide: 100 mg
- D-Panthenol: 5 mg
Pharmacology
B-50 Forte-B complex offers a balanced combination of essential B vitamins crucial for metabolic functions. These vitamins play integral roles in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism as components of enzyme systems. Deficiency of B vitamins can lead to various health issues like glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, polyneuritis, beriberi, pellagra, and corneal vascularization.
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet/Capsule: Usually, 1-2 tablets/capsules are recommended three times daily or as per physician’s advice.
- Syrup: Typically, 2-3 teaspoonfuls daily or as directed by the physician.
- Injection: Administered intramuscularly or intravenously with a usual dose of 2 ml daily or as prescribed. Injectable dosage includes D-Panthenol 5 mg along with Thiamine, Riboflavin, Nicotinamide, and Pyridoxine.
Interaction
B-50 Forte-B complex may interfere with levodopa therapy for parkinsonism, hence it’s not advisable for patients undergoing such treatment.
Contraindications
Avoid Vitamin-B complex if there is hypersensitivity to any of its components.
Side Effects
While adverse reactions are rare at the levels present in B-50 Forte-B complex, allergic reactions and idiosyncratic responses are possible. Gastrointestinal intolerance may occur with iron supplementation, even at recommended levels.
