Indications
Apalene cream or gel is specifically formulated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris.
Always follow the guidance of a registered healthcare professional when using this medication.
Pharmacology
Adapalene operates on retinoid receptors prevalent in the skin, particularly on the face, back, and chest. Extensive biochemical and pharmacological research has shown that Adapalene effectively modulates cellular differentiation, keratinization, and inflammatory responses, all of which are critical aspects of acne vulgaris pathology. By binding to specific retinoic acid nuclear receptors, Adapalene normalizes the differentiation of follicular epithelial cells, leading to a reduction in microcomedone formation. It is important to note that the absorption of Adapalene through human skin is minimal.
Dosage
- Adapalene 0.1%: Apply to the affected skin areas once daily at night.
- Adapalene 0.3%: Apply evenly to the entire face and other affected skin areas once daily in the evening.
Children Under 12 Years: The safety and effectiveness of Adapalene have not been established for children below 12 years of age.
Always consult a registered healthcare professional before use.
Administration
Apply a thin layer of gel or cream to the areas affected by lesions, ensuring complete coverage of the affected skin.
Always consult a registered healthcare professional before use.
Interaction
Caution is advised when using Adapalene alongside other topical products that may cause irritation, such as medicated or abrasive soaps, strong drying agents, high-alcohol content products, astringents, or spices. Special care should be taken with preparations containing sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid. If these products have been used, it’s recommended to wait until their effects have diminished before starting Adapalene therapy. If simultaneous use is necessary, consider applying them at different times of the day.
