Acical-D

Indications

Acical-D is commonly used to treat conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, and tetany, as well as parathyroid disease. It also supports calcium intake during pregnancy and lactation, enhances osteogenesis and tooth formation (when used alongside other treatments), and assists in the management of chronic renal failure. Additionally, it’s used as an adjunct in anti-seizure medication therapy.

Pharmacology

Acical-D is a combination of Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). Calcium is a vital mineral necessary for various body functions, primarily for bone health and formation. Clinical studies show that this combination significantly helps in bone growth, as well as in the prevention of osteoporosis and fractures.

Dosage & Administration

• Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU Tablet: Take 2 tablets daily or 1 tablet twice a day, preferably with or after a meal for optimal absorption.
• Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 400 IU Tablet: Take 1 tablet twice daily, ideally with or after meals to enhance absorption.

Interactions

Acical-D may interact with calcium-containing antacids, other calcium supplements, vitamin D3 supplements (like calcitriol), and certain antibiotics (such as tetracycline and doxycycline). Discuss with your doctor before combining with other medications.

Acical-D should not be used by individuals with hypercalcemia, hyperthyroidism, renal calculi, nephrolithiasis, or Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.

Side Effects
