Pharmacology
Dixar Plus is a combination of an antitussive, decongestant, and antihistamine.
- Dextromethorphan: A non-narcotic cough suppressant that acts centrally on the cough center in the medulla. Unlike morphine, it lacks analgesic, addictive, or sedative properties.
- Phenylephrine: A nasal decongestant that reduces nasal and sinus congestion by shrinking blood vessels. It also aids in draining fluid from the inner ear.
- Triprolidine: A competitive H1-receptor antagonist that alleviates histamine-related symptoms. It has mild sedative properties and may cause drowsiness.
Dosage
- Adults & children 12 years and older: 5 ml (1 teaspoon) every 4 hours, or as directed by a doctor.
- Children 6–12 years: 2.5 ml (½ teaspoon) every 4 hours, or as directed by a doctor.
- Children 2–6 years: Use cautiously and only under medical supervision.
- Children under 2 years: Not recommended.
Use medication as prescribed by a registered physician.
