Indications for Repose Tablet

Repose tablets are commonly prescribed for the treatment of various mental health conditions, including:

• Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Panic Disorder (PD)
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)

Pharmacological Information

Repose contains Sertraline, a potent selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that works by blocking the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) in the brain. This increases serotonin levels in the synaptic clefts, which enhances its action at the postsynaptic receptors, leading to an improvement in mood and reduction of symptoms related to depression and anxiety. Sertraline’s prolonged half-life allows for convenient once-daily dosing, making it easier for patients to adhere to their treatment regimen.

Dosage and Administration

For Adults:

• Major Depressive Disorder (MDD):
  • Starting Dose: 50 mg daily
  • Effective Dose Range: 50-200 mg daily
• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD):
  • Starting Dose: 50 mg daily
  • Effective Dose Range: 50-200 mg daily
• Panic Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD):
  • Starting Dose: 25 mg daily
  • Effective Dose Range: 50-200 mg daily

For Pediatric Patients (Ages 6-12):

• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD):
  • Starting Dose: 25 mg daily
  • Effective Dose Range: 50-200 mg daily
  • Dose Adjustment: Increase dose by 25 mg per week as needed.

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD):

• Starting Dose: 50 mg daily
• Continuous Dosing: Take every day throughout the menstrual cycle.
• Intermittent Dosing: Begin 14 days before expected menstruation and continue through menstruation.

Dosage adjustments may be required for patients not responding to initial doses.

Drug Interactions

Repose may interact with other medications, particularly those that are highly protein-bound (such as warfarin or digitoxin), which could lead to shifts in plasma drug concentrations. Caution is advised when taking Repose with other drugs, including Cimetidine, CNS-active drugs (like Diazepam), Hypoglycemic agents, and Atenolol. These interactions could potentially result in adverse effects, so it’s important to inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking.

Contraindications

Sertraline (Repose) should not be used by individuals who are:

• Allergic to Sertraline or any of its ingredients.
• Suffering from moderate to severe liver impairment.

Side Effects

Repose may cause the following side effects:

• Upset stomach, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, dry mouth
• Decreased appetite or changes in weight
• Drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, and fatigue
• Sensations of pain, burning, or tingling in the hands or feet
• Increased excitement, sore throat, or changes in mood

Pregnancy and Lactation

Although animal studies did not show evidence of teratogenicity, the safety of Sertraline during pregnancy has not been definitively established. Precautions and Warnings

• Liver or Kidney Issues: Use caution if you have liver or kidney conditions.
• Seizure History: Take extra care if you have a history of seizures.
• Elderly Patients: Older adults may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication.
• Suicidal Thoughts: Monitor for changes in behavior, particularly during the first few weeks of treatment. Close observation is recommended.
• Activity Restrictions: Repose may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid activities requiring full alertness, such as driving, while on this medication.

Do not take Repose if you have recently used a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI) in the past 5 weeks.
