Indications
Emenil Plus is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting, dizziness, motion sickness, radiation sickness, and vertigo related to vestibular disorders such as Meniere’s syndrome and labyrinthitis.

Pharmacology
Emenil Plus contains Meclizine, a piperazine derivative antihistamine known for its antiemetic properties. It works by reducing the sensitivity of the labyrinthine apparatus and may act through nerve pathways connecting to the vomiting center in the brain. Pyridoxine (Vitamin B-6) is included to enhance the anti-emetic effects and serve as a dietary supplement.
Dosage & Administration
For Adults and Children Aged 12 and Over:
- Nausea and Vomiting: 25-50 mg daily or as directed by a physician.
- Motion Sickness: Take 25-50 mg one hour before travel; may repeat every 24 hours as needed.
- Radiation Sickness: 50 mg, administered 2-12 hours before radiation treatment.
- Vertigo: 25-100 mg daily in divided doses.
- ECP-Related Nausea: 25-50 mg one hour prior to the first emergency contraceptive pill dose; repeat if necessary in 24 hours.
Safety and efficacy in children under 12 have not been established.
Interaction
Concurrent use with CNS depressants such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, and barbiturates may enhance the depressant effects of Meclizine. Additionally, Meclizine can increase digoxin absorption by slowing gastrointestinal motility.
Contraindications
Meclizine and Pyridoxine are contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to these components.
Side Effects
Common side effects include drowsiness and dry mouth; blurred vision may occur in rare cases.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Emenil Plus is classified as Pregnancy Category B. Large-scale studies indicate it poses low risk for fetal harm, making it a preferred choice for treating nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Safety for nursing mothers has not been confirmed.
Precautions & Warnings
Patients should be advised that Meclizine may impair their ability to perform tasks requiring alertness, such as driving. Alcohol should be avoided during treatment. Use with caution in patients with asthma, glaucoma, or prostate enlargement due to its anticholinergic properties.
Overdose Effects
Symptoms may include extreme excitability, seizures, drowsiness, and hallucinations. Supportive treatment is recommended, and dialysis should be considered.
