Calbo-D

Indications

Calbo-D serves as a remedy for various conditions including osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and parathyroid disease. It’s commonly prescribed to ensure sufficient calcium intake during pregnancy, lactation, bone development, and in conjunction with anti-seizure medications. Additionally, it functions as a routine supplement and phosphate binder for individuals with chronic renal failure.

Pharmacology

Formulated with Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol), Calbo-D plays a crucial role in numerous bodily functions, particularly bone formation and maintenance. Vitamin D3 aids in the absorption and reabsorption of calcium, while also stimulating bone growth. Clinical studies underscore the synergy between Calcium and Vitamin D3 in promoting bone health and preventing conditions like osteoporosis and fractures.

Dosage & Administration

For Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU Tablets: Take 2 tablets daily or 1 tablet twice daily, preferably with or just after a meal to optimize absorption.

For Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 400 IU Tablets: Take 1 tablet twice daily, best taken with or just after a meal for enhanced absorption.

Interaction

Calbo-D may interact with calcium, aluminum, or magnesium-containing antacids, as well as other calcium supplements, calcitriol, and vitamin D3 supplements. It’s also important to be cautious when taking it alongside medications like digoxin, tetracycline, or doxycycline.

Contraindications

Avoid Calbo-D if experiencing hypercalcemia, hyperthyroidism, renal calculi or nephrolithiasis, or Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.

Side Effects

While generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, increased urination, or constipation. Any adverse reactions should be reported to a healthcare professional promptly.
