Indications
Zesup is recommended for addressing zinc deficiency and conditions leading to zinc loss. Deficiency can arise from poor diet or malabsorption, while zinc loss can occur due to trauma, burns, diarrhea, and protein-losing conditions. It’s prescribed until clinical improvement, with continued use often necessary for severe malabsorption or metabolic disorders.
Pharmacology
Zinc sulfate monohydrate, an essential trace element, plays crucial roles in various enzyme systems within the body. Essential for growth, health, sexual maturation, and reproduction, zinc also supports functions like dark vision adaptation, taste and smell sensitivity, insulin regulation, and immune defense. Deficiency may lead to impaired immune function, delayed wound healing, reduced taste and smell senses, poor night vision, increased abortion risk, alopecia, mental fatigue, skin changes, and reproductive organ development issues.
Dosage
Children under 10 kg: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) twice daily after meals. Children between 10-30 kg: 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) once to three times daily after meals. Adults and children over 30 kg: 20 ml (4 teaspoonfuls) once to three times daily after meals.
For best results, take the medication at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. If stomach upset occurs, it can be taken with food.
