Composition:
Each 160 mg capsule contains a blend of Saw Palmetto Oil, Pygeum Bark Oil, Korean Ginseng, Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate, and Copper Gluconate. The 500 mg capsule contains pure Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) fruit.
Pharmacology:
The 160 mg capsule exerts anti-estrogenic activity, increases urinary flow rate, and possesses anti-inflammatory properties through various mechanisms. The 500 mg capsule targets problems related to BPH, with proposed mechanisms including 5-alpha reductase inhibitory activity and anti-inflammatory effects.
Dosage & Administration:
For the 160 mg capsule, the usual dosage for adults is 1-2 capsules daily or as advised by a physician. The safety and effectiveness in the pediatric population have not been established. For the 500 mg capsule, the recommended dosage is 1 to 2 g (2-4 capsules) in divided doses daily.
Interaction:
Uripam may interact with estrogen in the body, potentially decreasing the effectiveness of birth control pills. It is believed to exert estrogen, androgen, and alpha-adrenergic blocking effects, requiring adjustments when used concomitantly with hormone or adrenergic drugs.
Contraindications:
