Timozin

Indications:

Timozin is an effective antispasmodic medication designed to alleviate muscle spasms in the intestines, biliary system, bladder, and uterus. It is commonly used to relieve pain associated with functional gastrointestinal and biliary disorders. Additionally, Timozin is indicated for the treatment of spasms and pain in urological and gynecological conditions.

Pharmacology:

Timozin contains Tiemonium Methylsulphate, a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine and histamine. It enhances calcium binding to membrane phospholipids and proteins, thereby inhibiting the contraction of visceral muscles. This action helps reduce visceral spasms and associated pain, providing effective relief from muscle spasms.

Dosage & Administration:

Tablet/Syrup:

• Adults: The typical dose is 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls of syrup daily, divided into multiple doses.
• Children: The recommended dosage is 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg of body weight per day, divided into several doses.

Injection:

• Administer 1 injection 3 times a day via slow intravenous or intramuscular injection.

Suppository:

• Use one 20 mg suppository 2-3 times daily, via the rectal route.

Drug Interactions:

Contraindications:

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Animal studies on Tiemonium Methylsulphate did not show any teratogenic effects, and no deformities have been reported with normal use. However, due to the lack of sufficient data, nursing mothers should exercise caution. No issues have been reported with normal use during lactation.

Precautions & Warnings:

Special caution should be taken when treating patients with prostate disorders, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, hyperthermia, renal or hepatic insufficiency. Due to potential visual disturbances, caution is advised when driving or operating machinery.
