Pharmacology
Tiemonium Methylsulphate works by acting as a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine and histamine. It enhances the binding of calcium to phospholipids and proteins in cell membranes, thus inhibiting the intracellular contractile proteins in visceral cells. This action effectively reduces visceral spasms and alleviates associated pain.
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet/Syrup:
- Adults: Take 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls of syrup daily, divided into multiple doses.
- Children: Administer 3 ml/kg body weight or 6 mg/kg body weight per day in divided doses.
- Injection: 1 injection 3 times daily, administered slowly via the intravenous route or intramuscular route.
- Suppository: 20 mg suppository, two to three times daily, administered rectally.
