Indications

Our inhalation aerosol serves patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who still exhibit bronchospasm despite regular aerosol bronchodilator use, necessitating a second bronchodilator for effective relief.

Pharmacology

This inhalation aerosol combines Salbutamol (as Sulphate) and Ipratropium Bromide, offering an eco-friendly solution with its hydrofluoroalkane (HFA) formulation, free from ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) propellants. By leveraging the synergistic action of Salbutamol and Ipratropium Bromide, it maximizes bronchodilation in COPD patients, targeting bronchospasm through dual mechanisms.

Dosage

Adults, including the elderly, are recommended two puffs of Salpium inhaler four times daily, with a maximum of 12 puffs in 24 hours, as directed by a physician.

Administration

Optimal inhaler usage is vital for effective treatment. Patients should follow precise steps to ensure proper medication delivery to the lungs, reducing the severity of asthma attacks and preventing complications.

Interaction

Our inhalation aerosol has been safely used alongside other medications for COPD treatment, including sympathomimetic bronchodilators and steroids. However, caution is advised when co-administering with other anticholinergic or sympathomimetic agents to mitigate the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects.

Contraindications

Patients with hypersensitivity to Soya-Lecithin or related food products like soybean and peanut, or to any other components of the drug product, atropine, or its derivatives should avoid using this inhalation aerosol.

Side Effects

Potential side effects may include mild tremor, headache, muscle cramps, and hypersensitivity reactions. These typically resolve with continuous treatment, but patients should seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

Pregnancy & Lactation

While Ipratropium Bromide is classified as pregnancy category B, caution is advised during pregnancy, as Salbutamol has shown teratogenic effects in animals. It should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks. The excretion of components in human milk remains unknown, warranting cautious administration to nursing mothers.

Use in Special Populations

Patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, bladder-neck obstruction, convulsive disorders, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes mellitus should use this inhalation aerosol with caution.

Overdose Effects

Overdose effects primarily relate to Salbutamol Sulphate and may include anginal pain, hypertension, hypokalemia, and tachycardia.

Storage Conditions
