Indications
Reducid is primarily prescribed for the treatment of:
- Gastric ulcers
- Duodenal ulcers
- Anastomotic ulcers
- Acute stress ulcers
- Reflux esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
It is also effective for managing both acute gastritis and chronic gastritis during acute exacerbations.
Always follow the advice of a registered healthcare professional before taking any medication.
Pharmacology
Reducid contains Famotidine, a potent H2-receptor antagonist that works by blocking the action of histamine on the H2 receptors in the stomach’s parietal cells. This action effectively reduces gastric acid secretion, including basal, overnight, and pentagastrin-stimulated acid production. The binding of Famotidine to the H2 receptor is slowly reversible, ensuring long-lasting effects.
