Indications
Purisal is indicated for the treatment and prevention of bronchospasm in adults, adolescents, and children aged 6 years and older who have reversible obstructive airway diseases.
Consult a registered healthcare professional before using this medication.
Pharmacology
Levosalbutamol is a selective beta-2 agonist that is a single isomer of salbutamol, achieved by eliminating (S)-salbutamol. This unique formulation provides effective bronchodilation while minimizing beta-mediated side effects compared to racemic salbutamol.

Caution is advised when using Purisal alongside other short-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilators or epinephrine to avoid potential cardiovascular complications.
Contraindications
Levosalbutamol is contraindicated for individuals with a known hypersensitivity to levosalbutamol or any of its ingredients.
Side Effects
Possible side effects include hypocalcemia, palpitations, fine muscle tremors, and muscle cramps. Other side effects may consist of nausea, vomiting, burning sensations in the chest, and diarrhea.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Levosalbutamol should be used during pregnancy only if the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus. It is unclear whether the drug is excreted in breast milk; caution is advised when administering it to nursing mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
Extreme caution is recommended in cases of acute severe asthma, particularly when combined with treatments such as xanthine derivatives, steroids, or diuretics. Monitoring of serum potassium levels is advised in these situations.
Overdose Effects
Overdose symptoms are typically consistent with excessive beta-adrenergic stimulation and may include those listed under side effects. In cases of severe overdose, it may be necessary to empty the stomach and administer a beta-blocker with caution, especially in patients with a history of bronchospasm.
Therapeutic Class
Short-acting selective β2-adrenoceptor stimulants.
