Composition

Each 5 gm sachet contains:

• Sodium Bicarbonate BP: 2.32 gm
• Citric Acid BP: 2.18 gm
• Sodium Carbonate BP: 0.50 gm

Pharmacology

This formulation acts as a rapid-acting antacid, providing quick relief from heartburn, indigestion, hyperacidity, and flatulence. The antacid ingredients work locally within the stomach, with all components dissolved for effectiveness, eliminating the need to consider systemic bioavailability and pharmacokinetics. The residual sodium and citrate ions are efficiently managed by the body and excreted through normal metabolic processes.

As an antacid, this product reacts in water to form sodium citrate, which possesses buffering properties, and carbon dioxide, aiding in belching. A slight excess of sodium bicarbonate contributes directly to acid neutralization.

Dosage & Administration

• Adults and children aged 12 years and above: Dissolve 5 gm (one 5 ml spoonful or one sachet) in a glass of water and drink as needed for symptom relief. A second dose may be taken after 2-3 hours.
• Minimum dosing interval: 2 hours.
• Maximum daily dose (MDD): Up to 2 sachets (10 gm total).
• Maximum duration of use at MDD: 14 days.
• Children under 12 years: Not recommended.
• Elderly patients: May take the adult dose.

Interaction

This product’s acid-neutralizing capacity may affect the absorption of concomitantly administered pH-specific medications.

Contraindications

Individuals on a low-sodium diet, such as those with hypertension or congestive heart failure, should only use this product if prescribed by a physician. It is also contraindicated for patients with impaired liver or kidney function and those with a known hypersensitivity to any ingredients in this preparation.
