Indications
This cream is effective for treating skin infections caused by fungi and/or bacteria, including:
- Ringworm
- Athlete’s foot
- Infected diaper rash

Composition
Each gram of the cream contains:
- Chlorhexidine Hydrochloride BP: 10 mg
- Nystatin USP: 100,000 IU (equivalent to 20 mg of dry substance, Ph. Eur.)
Pharmacology
Nystatin functions as both a fungistatic and fungicidal antibiotic, primarily targeting Candida albicans. Chlorhexidine exhibits a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. Notably, Nystatin is minimally absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and does not penetrate the skin or mucous membranes when applied topically.
Dosage & Administration
Route of Administration: Topical
- Children: Apply 2-3 times daily, continuing for 7 days after the lesions have healed.
- Adults: Apply 2-3 times daily, continuing for 7 days post-healing of lesions, or as directed by a physician.

Contraindications
Do not use if you have a known hypersensitivity to any active ingredients, particularly in individuals with a history of allergic reactions related to chlorhexidine.
Side Effects
Common Side Effects: Possible allergic skin reactions may include dermatitis, pruritus, erythema, eczema, rash, and skin irritation.
Rare Side Effects: Severe allergic reactions may occur, potentially resulting in a drop in blood pressure and loss of consciousness.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This cream should be used with caution during the early stages of pregnancy.
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only.
- Avoid contact with the eyes.
- Discontinue use if sensitivity occurs or if a new infection develops, and consider alternative therapies.
- This cream contains chlorhexidine, which can cause hypersensitivity reactions, including generalized allergic responses and anaphylactic shock.
- Not suitable for anyone with a history of allergic reactions to chlorhexidine-containing products.
Overdose Effects
Due to poor gastrointestinal absorption, accidental oral ingestion should be managed with routine measures, such as gastric lavage, as soon as possible after ingestion.
