Indications
Neocilor is prescribed for alleviating symptoms related to seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, including sneezing, nasal discharge, itching, nasal congestion, ocular itching, tearing, redness, palate itching, and coughing. Additionally, it provides relief for symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria, effectively reducing itching and the size and quantity of hives.

Pharmacology
Desloratadine, the primary active metabolite of Loratadine, is a non-sedating, long-acting tricyclic histamine antagonist that selectively targets H1-receptors. It also prevents histamine release from human mast cells, contributing to its efficacy in managing allergic symptoms.
Dosage & Administration
Pediatric Drops:
- Children aged 6-11 months: 2 ml once daily.
- Children aged 1-2 years: 2.5 ml once daily.
Syrup:
- Children aged 6-11 months: 2 ml once daily.
- Children aged 1-5 years: 2.5 ml once daily.
- Children aged 6-11 years: 5 ml once daily.
- Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml once daily.
Tablets:
- Adults and children aged 12 years and older: 1 tablet daily.

Contraindications
Desloratadine is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication, its components, or Loratadine.
Side Effects
Less frequent side effects may include headaches, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, pharyngitis, dyspepsia, and myalgia.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. The safety of Desloratadine during pregnancy has not been established. It should only be used during pregnancy when absolutely necessary. Desloratadine is excreted in breast milk, so a decision should be made to either discontinue nursing or the medication, considering the importance of the drug to the mother.
Precautions & Warnings
For adult patients with liver or renal impairment, it is advised to start with one 5 mg tablet every other day, based on pharmacokinetic data. Special consideration should be given to patients with a medical or family history of seizures.
