Indications
Nazolin is designed to relieve nasal congestion caused by various conditions such as acute or chronic rhinitis, common colds, sinusitis, upper respiratory allergies, epistaxis, and hay fever. It is also effective as a nasal decongestant for otitis media.
Pharmacology
Nazolin contains Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride, an imidazoline derivative and sympathomimetic amine. This compound acts directly on α-adrenoceptors and does not affect β-adrenoceptors. When applied topically to the nasal mucosa, Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride causes rapid and sustained vasoconstriction of the nasal arterioles. This reduces blood flow, minimizes mucosal swelling, and enhances nasal airway potency and sinus drainage.
