Indications:
Menthol and Eucalyptus oil act as decongestants, aiding in easier breathing. This product is designed to relieve symptoms associated with coughs, colds, and nasal congestion.
Dosage & Administration:
Recommended for adults, elderly individuals, and children over 3 months old: Mix 5 ml of suspension with 500-600 ml of hot (not boiling) water. Inhale the steam vapors through both mouth and nose. Repeat every 4 hours if necessary. Ensure thorough shaking before use. For external use only.
Contraindications:
Not suitable for infants under 3 months old or individuals allergic to menthol, eucalyptus, or other ingredients.
Side Effects:
Possible hypersensitivity reactions may include allergic rhinitis, itching, swelling, or contact dermatitis. In infants, local application of menthol to nostrils has been associated with reports of apnea and sudden collapse.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
When used as directed, inhalation of Menthol & Eucalyptus oil during pregnancy and lactation is unlikely to have adverse effects.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid use in infants under 3 months old. External use only. Store all medications out of children’s reach. This product contains 1.25mg of benzalkonium chloride per 5ml dose (equivalent to 0.025% w/v), which may cause bronchospasm, particularly in individuals with asthma.
Overdose Effects:
Symptoms of ingestion overdose include burning sensation in the stomach, severe abdominal pain, central nervous system depression, pulmonary damage, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, muscular weakness, ataxia, miosis, coma, and sensation of suffocation. Cyanosis, delirium, and convulsions may also occur. Fatalities have been reported from relatively low doses of eucalyptus oil and menthol.
Treatment involves stomach emptying via gastric lavage, administration of a saline laxative like sodium sulfate or sodium phosphate solution, and, if necessary, parenteral anticonvulsants under hospital supervision.
