Description

Indications

Nafodil is prescribed to address peripheral vascular disorders, encompassing blood circulation issues beyond the brain and heart. It effectively manages various symptoms associated with these disorders, including:

  • Intermittent claudication
  • Nocturnal leg cramps
  • Rest pain, severe leg pain while resting
  • Cold-induced worsening of pale or blue fingers or toes
  • Sensations of numbness, tingling, or burning in fingers or toes (Raynaud’s syndrome or acrocyanosis)
  • Trophic ulcers (open sores on the legs or feet)
  • Diabetic arteriopathy, improving poor circulation caused by diabetes
  • Treatment of gangrene

Pharmacology

Naftidrofuryl oxalate exhibits 5HT2-blocking activity, counteracting vasoconstriction and platelet aggregation induced by serotonin. It enhances intracellular metabolism by increasing ATP levels, reducing lactic acid in ischemic conditions, and boosting cellular oxidative capacity.
