Indications
Mycofast Cream is specifically indicated for the topical treatment of interdigital tinea pedis and other fungal infections in patients aged 12 and above with normal immune function. These infections are caused by Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Epidermophyton floccosum.
Use only as directed by a registered healthcare provider.
Pharmacology
Sertaconazole, the active ingredient in Mycofast Cream, belongs to the imidazole class of antifungal agents. It works by inhibiting the fungal enzyme 14 alpha-lanosterol demethylase, which is crucial for the production of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. The inhibition results in membrane damage, causing leakage of vital cellular materials, ultimately leading to fungal cell death.
Dosage & Administration
For treating interdigital tinea pedis, apply Sertaconazole Cream twice daily for a duration of 4 weeks. Ensure to apply enough cream to cover both the infected areas between the toes and the surrounding healthy skin.
Note: This medication is not suitable for ophthalmic, oral, or intravaginal use.
- Pediatric Use: The safety and efficacy of Fungitac Cream 2% have not been established for children under 12 years.
- Geriatric Use: There is insufficient data from clinical trials to determine if patients aged 65 and above react differently from younger individuals.
Use only as directed by a registered healthcare provider.
