Pharmacology
Moxifloxacin exerts its antimicrobial effects by inhibiting two essential enzymes: topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV. DNA gyrase is crucial for the replication, transcription, and repair of bacterial DNA, while topoisomerase IV plays a significant role in the separation of chromosomal DNA during bacterial cell division.
Dosage & Administration
Administer one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily for a duration of seven days.
Follow your healthcare provider’s recommendations regarding this medication.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Precautions & Warnings
Extended use of Moxifloxacin may lead to the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi, when combined with other anti-infectives.
Use in Special Populations
- Pediatric Use: The safety and efficacy of Moxifloxacin in infants under four months have not been established. However, clinical studies suggest its safe use in children younger than one month.
- Geriatric Use: No significant differences in safety and efficacy have been noted between elderly and younger patients.
Overdose Effects
The risk of adverse effects from accidental ingestion is minimal, as a 5 ml bottle of this eye drop solution contains only 25 mg of Moxifloxacin, which is significantly lower than the recommended daily oral dosage.
