Indications
Momeson nasal spray is specifically designed for individuals aged 2 years and older to address the nasal symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis. It effectively alleviates nasal congestion linked to seasonal allergic rhinitis for patients aged 2 years and older. For patients aged 12 years and above, it serves as a preventive measure against seasonal allergic rhinitis. Additionally, it is indicated for the treatment of nasal polyps in adults aged 18 years and older.

Pharmacology
Mometasone Furoate is a corticosteroid recognized for its anti-inflammatory properties. While the exact mechanism by which corticosteroids affect allergic rhinitis remains unclear, they exhibit diverse effects on various immune cells (including mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) and mediators (such as histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) that play pivotal roles in inflammation.
Dosage
Allergic Rhinitis:
- Adults and Children (12 years and older): The recommended dosage for both prophylaxis and treatment of nasal symptoms from seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis is two sprays (50 mcg of Mometasone Furoate per spray) in each nostril once daily, totaling 100 mcg. For individuals with a known seasonal allergen that triggers nasal symptoms, it’s advisable to start prophylaxis with Mometasone Nasal Spray (50 mcg) at a dosage of 200 mcg per day for 2 to 4 weeks before the anticipated pollen season begins.
- Children (2 to 11 years): For managing nasal symptoms from seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, the recommended dose is one spray (50 mcg of Mometasone Furoate per spray) in each nostril once daily, totaling 100 mcg.
Nasal Polyps:
- Adults (18 years and older): For the treatment of nasal polyps, the suggested dosage is two sprays (50 mcg per spray) in each nostril twice daily, resulting in a total daily dose of 400 mcg. In some cases, a dosage of two sprays in each nostril once daily (totaling 200 mcg) may also be effective.
Always consult a registered healthcare professional before using this medication.

Cleaning Instructions: To maintain hygiene, clean the nasal spray at least once a week:

Contraindications
Momeson should not be used in individuals with hypersensitivity to any of its components.

Typically mild side effects may include headaches, viral infections, pharyngitis, epistaxis (nosebleeds), and coughing.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C: Adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women are lacking. Mometasone Furoate, like other corticosteroids, should be administered during pregnancy only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus. It remains unknown whether Mometasone Furoate is excreted in human milk. Given that other corticosteroids do pass into breast milk, caution is advised when administering Mometasone Furoate Nasal Spray to nursing mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
Exercise caution when prescribing nasal corticosteroids to patients with active or latent tuberculosis, untreated fungal, bacterial, or systemic viral infections, or ocular herpes simplex. Regularly monitor patients for any signs of adverse effects on the nasal mucosa. Avoid use in individuals with recent nasal ulcers, nasal surgery, or nasal trauma. Patients with changes in vision or a history of increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma, or cataracts should be monitored closely.
