Indications
Momento is designed to alleviate symptoms related to both seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, including sneezing, nasal discharge, itching, and congestion. It also addresses ocular symptoms such as itching, tearing, and redness, as well as throat itching and cough. Additionally, Momento effectively manages chronic idiopathic urticaria, helping to reduce itching and the size and number of hives.
Pharmacology
The active ingredient in Momento, Desloratadine, is a non-sedating, long-lasting tricyclic antihistamine with selective H1-receptor antagonist properties. It also inhibits histamine release from mast cells, providing comprehensive relief from allergic reactions.
Dosage & Administration
- Pediatric Drops:
- Children 6-11 months: 2 ml once daily
- Children 1-2 years: 2.5 ml once daily
- Syrup:
- Children 6-11 months: 2 ml once daily
- Children 1-5 years: 2.5 ml once daily
- Children 6-11 years: 5 ml once daily
- Adults & children over 12 years: 10 ml once daily
- Tablet:
- Adults and children 12 years and older: 1 tablet daily

Interactions

Contraindications
Momento should not be used by individuals who are hypersensitive to Desloratadine, its ingredients, or Loratadine.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. The safety of Desloratadine during pregnancy has not been established; it should only be used if clearly needed. Desloratadine is excreted in breast milk, so a decision should be made whether to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication based on its importance to the mother.
Precautions & Warnings
For patients with liver or renal impairment, start with a 5 mg tablet every other day. Exercise caution in individuals with a history of seizures.
